Newsletter: January 2005

Dear Reader,

Happy New Year. Just letting you know our web site has been updated with new driving articles. FYI, I have also attached our Uganda training schedule for the next two months below; these dates are flexible - if you get a group together we will be able to put in additional dates to suit your schedule.

2004 was a very busy year for us. I was really pleased at the number of organisations, worldwide, that have been recognising the importance /benefits in training staff to correctly handle their 4wd's. We have now had a number of organisations remark that since carrying out road safety training, they have seen their insurance claims reduced and a considerable reduction in maintenance costs.

2004 also gave me the opportunity to further my professional development by attending the BSR Security Driving /Police Train-the-Trainer programme in West Virginia, USA. A 5-day intensive programme honed driving skills and training techniques. Continuance training is an important aspect of every drivers' development and instructors are no exception.

Buying a Used Japanese 4wd
Buying a Used Japanese 4wd
Buying a second hand vehicle (in Uganda) can be a bit of a gamble at the best of times, but throw in vagaries of this environment and you could have better luck taking the money to the Kampala Casino -- and that's saying something!
Rhino Stampede 2005
Rhino Stampede 2005
We had another successful Rhino Stampede in November 2004 and are already planning the next one to be held May 2005. I will post the event /registration packet online in the next few weeks.
2005 team events will include the Divorce Derby, Balance Beam, Off-road Skills Trail, Wheel Change Competition, "Drag the Tyre through the Mud' and the Relay Race! The event will take place at our Sissa Off Road Centre. Costs are 200,000/= per car plus 20,000/= per participant (min 2, max 4 per car), which caters for food, drinks, raffle ticket and T-shirt. All proceeds will go to the Rhino Sanctuary. Further, spectators will be charged 2,000/= entry fee.
