Target Fixation: Something Worth Looking At!

4wd Photo: Target Fixation

Recently, I had a training experience, where I ended up with a couple of damaged ribs and an arm twice it's normal size. The objective of the training exercise was to learn to deal with looking at where you want to go in a high stress situation and not at the distraction.

Unfortunately, the student who was driving at the time, didn't handle stress very well and drove the vehicle off the track and hit me with it. I was being the distracter at the time! Rhino Stampede

City Tyres Rhino Stampede - Get ready for May 5, 2007!

The countdown is on...get your 4x4 ready and forms in; slots are filling up quickly. City Tyres have been doing a fantastic job organising the event and it is shaping up to be the largest to-date with all proceeds going to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Uganda's only home for the endangered white rhino.

Application forms are available at City Tyres (6th street, Industrial area) or can be downloaded from our site.

If you would like to volunteer or marshal, give us a shout.

AV Training

Armoured Vehicle (AV) Training - 4x4 Update

As of September 2007, we will be able to provide an armoured vehicle for our AV course. Training will be carried out in the same vehicle models and in soft and armoured types to ensure students get a clear understanding of the changes in dynamics.

Course Description: Emphasis is on how to safely operate AV's due to the severe altering of dynamics and handling that the armouring produces. This course familiarises you to these changes in a safe environment to ensure effective AV use; for normal day-to-day driving on sealed or unsealed surfaces; in a hostile environment; or when under attack. To be prepared regardless of the road conditions /threats!
