Protective Driving - 4wd Add-On
This course has been designed to refine your security driving skills for an off-road environment. You will learn to successfully counter the threat using a 4wd vehicle. Vehicle dynamics, control, handling, and terrain are all different. Skills need to be refined for the different environments you will be working in.
Questions to consider are does your vehicle have a rear brake or a transmission brake, is the vehicle permanent or part-time 4wd, does it have a live front axle or an independent front suspension? Learn what your vehicle can and cannot do. You must have successfully completed a protective driving course in the last 24 months.
Driving Course Modules Include:
- 4wd mechanical drive train - variations; technical and dynamic exercises.
- Local threats and trends.
- Route planning; identifying choke points, alternative routes, and safe havens.
- Protective /evasive driving exercises and scenarios on an unsealed road surface.
