Professional Driving Course

Drive to the conditions; this intensive defensive driving course is the next level up from our High Range Module. It is designed specifically for people who operate 4wd's in urban and rural areas.

Emphasis is on the importance of critical self-awareness, hazard awareness and space management. Students are encouraged to identify and self-correct errors to build up to smooth, accurate and consistent driving.

Module: Introduction to 4wd Defensive Driving

• Introduction to 4wd Systems.
• "Situation-specific" hazard-awareness drills.
• Understanding reaction distance.
• Understanding road surfaces, camber’s negative effects and vehicle dynamics.
• Learning to manage the steer /brake trade-off; including emergency braking and controlled braking exercises.
• Understanding the System of Vehicle Control and the Accident Prevention Formula.

Module: The Pro-active Mindset (Accident Avoidance)

• Becoming a better driver; characteristics of a good driver and aspects of critical self-awareness.
• The Pro-active Mindset; the positive virtues of the correct mindset and awareness level.
• Identifying human factors; the link between the psychological and the physical aspects of driving.
• Hazard awareness; understanding hazards, grading a risk and making observation links.
• Understanding the decision making process.

Module: The System of Vehicle Control

• Space management and planning.
• Collision avoidance; develop driving skills to handle the vehicle under emergency situations.
• Reversing techniques; straight line reversing, reverse slalom (using the rear window /and mirrors), reversing around corners.
• Vehicle dynamics; limits of tyre adhesion and weight transfer.
• Correct cornering and steering techniques.

• Price: US$ 800.00 per Student (includes use of a 4wd training vehicle).
• Price: US$ 605.00 per Student (if you bring your 4wd).
• Rate exclusive of 18% VAT.
• Discount rates are available for groups of 10 or more students.

Group sizes: We require a minimum of 5 attendees to conduct a class outside of the regularly posted schedule. Our maximum class size is 8 students. Any additional students we recommend you move into a second session.
