Motorcycle /ATV Operation
Do you or your personnel primarily operate motorcycles /quad bikes in the field? Training to the individual rider’s skills, this course highlights the dangers of operating such machines in this region and is a must for road survival and off-road riding control.
Riders will gain confidence in their ability and machine and at the same time identify the limit of their experience. Moreover, students learn to identify hazards early and plan how to deal with them safely and efficiently.
This modulated programme is available as a one day introduction or three day intensive course to compensate for the varying standards of rider. The one day course is designed for riders who are proficient and want to increase their skill to a standard where they are confident with differing off-road riding situations.
The three day course is designed for riders who have some proficiency but are not completely confident in riding in difficult rural conditions /situations. Our 3 day course is particularly applicable to outreach workers.
Riding Course Modules Include:
- Rider responsibility, safety equipment, hazard identification and avoidance, vulnerability.
- Understanding motorcycle dynamics; weight distribution, acceleration & deceleration, motorcycle balance & control.
- General defensive driving and control techniques; follow position & procedures, overtaking position & procedure, countering weight transfer, front /rear braking, emergency braking, starting off, cornering.
- Traversing rough terrain and manoeuvring through urban /rural areas; climbing, traversing & cresting exercises.
- First line maintenance; carry out daily checks, carry out minor adjustments, and identify & report problems.
