Field Security Driving Course

In a world where field personnel are increasingly coming under threat from accidents and incidents alike, this course teaches avoidance through awareness by effectively adopting the proactive mindset.

This course arms field personnel with basic training in 4wd operation, security driving, and the intelligence necessary to avoid rather than to escape hazards /threats!

Module: Introduction to 4wd Defensive Driving

  • Introduction to 4wd Systems.
  • "Situation-specific" hazard-awareness drills.
  • Understanding reaction distance.
  • Understanding road surfaces, camber’s negative effects and vehicle dynamics.
  • Learning to manage the steer /brake trade-off; including emergency braking and controlled braking exercises.
  • Understanding the System of Vehicle Control and the Accident Prevention Formula.

Module: The Proactive Mindset (Incident Avoidance)

  • Avoidance through awareness; developing a pro-active mindset.
  • Carry out effective threat and risk assessment and analysis.
  • Route planning; identifying choke points, alternative routes and safe havens.
  • Understanding the decision making process, awareness levels and the effects of survival stress.

Module: Introduction to Security Driving (rural)

  • Basic steps to "hardening up" your vehicle.
  • Dealing with road blocks /check points.
  • How to cover and evacuate when caught in crossfire.
  • Understanding different types of ambushes.

  • Price: US$ 725.00 per Student (includes use of a 4wd training vehicle).
  • Price: US$ 595.00 per Student (if you bring your 4wd).
  • Rate exclusive of 18% VAT.
  • Discount rates are available for groups of 10 or more students.

Group sizes: We require a minimum of 5 attendees to conduct a class outside of the regularly posted schedule. Our maximum class size is 8 students. Any additional students we recommend you move into a second session.
